With the Olympics in full swing, the topic of ‘mindsets’ is a common phrase amongst athletes. While many are now familiar with this terminology in sport, what about mindsets in work and our daily lives?
I have seen the use of ‘growth mindset’ banded about all too merrily and weaponised by leaders wanting their teams to be overly positive or to dissuade divergent thinking that does not align to the leader. The mindsets agenda is far more subtle and individual than this.
The picture above visually captures one of my mindsets: the need to ‘be a pioneer’, to show others the way, or that the start of any journey in business or life can feel lonely. ‘Being a pioneer’ is just one of a number of daily mindsets I choose that aids performance and brings out the best version of me.
What mindsets would you choose? How would they help you perform at your highest levels?
This is one of many topics we explore in performance coaching and leadership development at EMPOWERED2. If that sounds interesting or intriguing please get in touch!
